Methods for pinching copper wire

1.You can directly pinch copper wire using jewelry pliers or specialized tweezers.

2.Draw or print the desired pattern and place the copper wire against it. Use manual pliers to pinch the desired shape.

3.You can create your own wire pinching templates. When using a template, simply wrap the copper wire around it and twist the folded wire to achieve the desired shape. Refer to the illustration below (which features an acrylic template):

Using a pinching template is convenient and fast, and the complete pattern will be more uniform. Therefore, many craftsmen will use this method to pinch copper wire.

  • Draw or print the desired pattern on stiff cardboard. Cut out several identical patterns and stack them together (approximately 5 to 8 layers). Adjust the thickness according to your preference and smooth the edges.
  • Draw the desired pattern on acrylic or wooden boards. Use an engraving pen or laser engraving machine to create your custom template.
4.For beginners, if the above methods are challenging, consider purchasing pre-made templates from vendors. However, note that these templates may not fulfill your unique design requirements such as specific sizes.
