How to Make a Single-Petal Card Paper Daisy Chanhua

This section describes the creation of a Chanhua daisy. This style is relatively simple for beginners, mainly using single-petal Chanhua techniques. Beginners need to master the methods and essentials in the repetitive process of winding petals, ensuring that each petal surface is smooth and that the threads do not come loose.

4.1.1 Making Daisy Petals
The Chanhua daisy consists mainly of petals and the center. To make the daisy more three-dimensional, about 30 petals are needed. This serves as a good practice opportunity for beginners to grasp specific techniques and familiarize themselves with the essentials of winding.

A. Materials and Tools: White silk threads, No.30 silk mesh flower wire, white card paper, carbon pen, scissors, white glue

B. Petal Making:

1

1. Take the white silk threads and split them. Combine the split threads for later use.

2

2. Start the thread wrapping. Hold the No.30 silk mesh flower wire (referred to as "wire" hereafter) with your left hand, leave 1cm at one end of the wire, and wrap the split silk threads along the wire towards the end. Change direction and wrap towards the other end when nearing the end.

3

3. Draw a long teardrop shape on the white card paper with a carbon pen and cut out 30 identical shapes with scissors.

4

4. Fix the card paper with your fingers and evenly wrap the white silk threads along the edge of the card paper, ensuring the card paper is tightly covered and not exposed through the thread gaps. After wrapping 0.3cm, bend the wire on one side to the back of the card paper and continue wrapping with silk threads.

5

5. Wrap the entire card paper with silk threads, continue wrapping a section on the wire, and fix the end with white glue. Once the glue dries, the petal is complete. Make 30 petals using the same method for later use.

4.1.2 Assembling the Daisy
After completing the 30 petals, you can start assembling them. The following steps explain how to assemble the petals and center into a complete daisy.

A. Materials and Tools: Pre-made flower center, white and green rayon threads, alcohol glue, non-woven fabric, scissors

B. Assembling the Daisy:

1

1. Prepare a 30cm long, 3mm wide card paper strip flower center (refer to Chapter 2 "Decorative Flower Center" section for the making method, or you can purchase one). Fix the wire of the flower center and a completed petal together with white silk threads.

2                                                          3

2. Add a circle of petals around the flower center in the same manner, ensuring to leave some space between the petals.

3. Add a second layer of petals in the gaps of the first layer and fix the wire ends of the petals with green silk threads. Apply alcohol glue to the base of the petals for extra stability.

4

4. Prepare a ring-shaped piece of non-woven fabric and cut a notch in the ring with scissors.

5

5. Turn the wrapped daisy upside down, place the notched non-woven fabric over the base of the petals, and wrap all the wires together with green silk threads to form the daisy stem. This completes the making of a daisy.
