Lotus Flower

Materials and Tools: Velvet strips, silk thread, Hunan embroidery thread, stamens, hairpin, ruler, scissors, tweezers, clamping board, setting water, bristle brush, lighter.

The lotus flower has a noble character and is regarded by ancient Chinese people as a symbol of purity and integrity. Zhou Dunyi's famous essay "Ode to the Lotus" praises it for being unstained by mud and exuding a pure and elegant fragrance. (The techniques and methods for wrapping the hairpin rod will be explained in detail in Chapter 6.)

Steps:

1. Prepare 12 velvet strips, each 7 cm long, in pink, light pink, and green gradient colors.

2. Sharpen both ends.

3. Fold each strip in half with tweezers and twist the brass wires at both ends together.

4. Use the clamping board to flatten the folded velvet strips from bottom to top.

5. After spraying with setting water, clamp them again with the clamping board.

6. Trim the petals as shown in the picture.
7. Take a goose-yellow silk thread (Hunan embroidery thread).

10. Take 10-12 stamens with yellow heads, fold them in half with the goose-yellow silk thread inside and the stamens outside, and tie them with green silk thread.

13. Wrap a section of the flower stem at the base of the flower with silk thread.
14. Use tweezers to twist the flower stem to create a certain angle between the flower and the stem.
15. Attach the flower stem to the hairpin with silk thread.

16. Always keep the silk thread tight.
