Substitute Materials for Ronghua(Velvet flowers) and Their Usage

Substitute Material
Hunan embroidery mulberry silk threads (generally, a 5 cm velvet row requires 12 strands of Hunan embroidery mulberry silk threads).

Characteristics of Hunan embroidery mulberry silk threads
Each single strand has a large amount of velvet and the threads are loosely twisted, making it easy to comb. It comes in a variety of colors, eliminating the need for dyeing, and can be used by those interested in experiencing the craft.

Usage Method of Hunan embroidery mulberry silk threads

1                                              2

1. Prepare a material box (you can add some books inside to increase the weight).

2. Take out a pencil (or any other slender object).

3                                                 4

3. As shown in the picture, tie the Hunan embroidery mulberry silk threads.
4. Tie several strands of Hunan embroidery mulberry silk threads following step 3. The effect after tying should look like the picture.

5                                                  6

5. Clip the pencil inside the material box and secure the lid tightly.

6. Divide the twisted threads into two parts to prevent tangling during combing.

7                                                   8

7. Compare the split and unsplit threads as shown in the picture.

8. Split all the threads.

9                                                10

9. Group the threads into sets of four and slowly comb them with a bristle brush.
10. Compare the combed and uncombed threads: the right side shows the combed threads, and the left side shows the uncombed threads.

11                                              12

11. Comb through the velvet again to tidy up the lower end.
12. Use a clip to attach the lower end of the threads to the edge of the table.

By using Hunan embroidery mulberry silk threads as a substitute, the silk threads are now laid out, and the remaining steps are the same as the operational methods for velvet threads.
