Temple Flowers - Fullflowers

Temple Flowers - Handcraft Ronghua Tutorial

Temple Flowers

This flower design imitates the traditional temple flowers, characterized by their soft, full shape and bright colors. It can be worn in the hair or as a brooch. The making process is relatively simple compared to other flower designs, making it suitable for beginners to practice. (The techniques for wrapping hairpins will be explained in detail in Chapter 6.)

Materials and Tools: natural mulberry silk threads, Silk thread, Hairpin stick, Ruler, Scissors, Tweezers, Lighter

Steps:

1                                         2

1. Prepare three 5.5 cm long red natural mulberry silk threads.

2. Pinch each strip in half.

3

3. Use tweezers to fold each velvet strip and twist the ends of the brass wire together.

4                                       5                                    6

4. Repeat step 3 to prepare three natural mulberry silk threads.
5. Prepare twelve 4 cm long red natural mulberry silk threads.
6. Pinch each strip.

7

7. Bend each velvet strip and twist the ends of the brass wire together. Make ten such strips to use as petals.

 8

8. Form a velvet strip into a shape as shown in the picture. Twist the brass wire held in your left hand clockwise over the brass wire held in your right hand, twisting the ends together to form a stamen.

9                                                  10

9. Use red silk thread to assemble the stamen and petals.
10. Group five petals together to form two flowers.

11

11. Wrap the exposed brass wire below the leaves with silk thread. Bind the three leaves together as you like.

12                                      13                                  14

12. Use silk thread to bind the leaves tightly to one of the flowers.
13. Adjust the curvature of the flower stem with tweezers.
14. After tying with silk thread, bend the flower stem downwards to facilitate the next step.

15                                                16

15. Use tweezers to position the other flower and bind it with silk thread.
16. Wrap the exposed brass wire at the lower end with silk thread for the next step.

17

17. Bind the completed flower to the hairpin stick with silk thread, keeping the thread tight.

18

18. Tie a knot and finish.

19

19. Use tweezers to adjust the flower shape, completing the process.
