The Forbidden City Flower Arrangement - Handcraft Ronghua Tutorial

The Forbidden City Flower Arrangement

Materials and Tools: Velvet strips, silk threads, pearls, brass wire, hairpin rod, ruler, scissors, tweezers, lighter.

The difficulty and focus of this flower arrangement lie in the creation and sharpening of the velvet strips. Since the petals need to be sharpened in half, the velvet strips must be made thin. The thinner the strips, the more they test the meticulousness of the maker. Therefore, the process of making the velvet strips must be done carefully.

Steps:

1                                                        2

1. Prepare 50 variegated velvet strips, each 5.2 cm long.

2. Sharpen each one in half.

3

3. Fold the velvet strips in half using tweezers.

4

4. Thread 6 mm diameter pearls onto brass wire to make stamens; make a total of 10 stamens.

5

5. Bind the petals to the stamens one by one using green silk thread and tie a knot.

6                                                         7

6. Use tweezers to arrange the flower shape.
7. One flower bud is complete.

8

8. Fold 0.2 mm brass wire three times. After folding three times, the brass wire should be about 17 cm long. Wrap the lower end with green silk thread for about 5 cm.

9                                                          10

9. Fold the wrapped brass wire into a circle.
10. Continue wrapping the silk thread forward.

11

11. Bend the flower bud stem and use the "passing flowers" technique to wrap them onto the brass wire one by one.

12                                                        13

12. Wrap five flower buds in sequence on one brass wire.
13. Wrap the other five flower buds in the same way on another brass wire.

14                                                         15

14. Wrap the bases of the two flower arrangements together.
15. When the silk thread is halfway wrapped, take out a hairpin rod and wrap it together with the flower arrangement.

16

16. Tighten and knot the silk thread at the hairpin rod to finish.

17

17. Done.
