What should I do if the velvet sheds when twisting the strips?

When twisting velvet strips, if the velvet sheds in large clumps as shown in the first image above, it means the annealed brass wire is not twisted tightly enough and needs further twisting. If the wire breaks during twisting, cut the velvet strip in half.
