2.6 Chanhua Curved-Edge Petal Making Tips

Curved-Edge Petal Wrapping Diagram

1. Prepare a piece of 0.4mm diameter copper wire, a curved-edge petal cardstock template, and either velvet threads or silk threads.

2. Wrap the silk thread several times around the copper wire, then wrap back about 2cm in length.

3. Add the curved-edge petal cardstock template, position the copper wire against one tip of the cardstock, and begin wrapping with thread.

4. Following the curve of the cardstock, slightly overlap the thread wraps on the inner curve while wrapping normally on the outer curve. This effectively prevents thread slippage.

5. When wrapping reaches the other end of the cardstock, you may temporarily bend the already wrapped portion to avoid obstruction while continuing to wrap.

6. After wrapping the entire petal, continue wrapping the thread around the copper wire, following the same technique as step 2.

7. Apply a small amount of white glue to the end of the wrapped thread to secure it, then cut off any excess thread.

8. The curved-edge petal is now complete.
