4.1.3 Half-Tapered Leaf – Traditional Technique

Suitable for abstract leaf shapes

Key Summary:

  • Try to shape the velvet strips to be as smooth and even as possible.
  • Strive for symmetry during shaping, and ensure the central symmetry point is cleanly trimmed.

Production Steps

01. Arrange 20 sets of thread. The velvet row width is 6.5cm, with copper wire spacing of 6-7mm. Use 0.2mm copper wire to make the velvet strips.

02. Trim at the exact central symmetry point of the velvet strip to achieve the visual effect of creating two strips from one.

03. Fold the strip at the symmetry point to form one leaf.

04. Make a total of 10 leaves. After combining them as shown in the left diagram, set aside for later use (to be combined with the basic five-petal flower shape).
