Preface
Ronghua, a homophone for "prosperity" in Chinese, symbolizes wealth and honor. Originating from the Tang Dynasty, it has a history of over a thousand years. Today, as a traditional intangible cultural heritage craft, Ronghua has reached a broader audience through the power of the internet.

When people first see Ronghua, they are usually struck by its beauty. However, creating such a small item involves many steps: silk refining, dyeing, drying, tying threads, combing threads, fixing velvet, tying velvet, cutting velvet, twisting silk, trimming velvet, shaping, and assembling the flowers.

Traditional Ronghua mostly comes in plush forms, exuding a sense of grandeur and opulence. It is light yet beautiful, luxurious but not vulgar. Through the innovation of artisans, flat-shaped Ronghua has emerged alongside the plush forms. Each style offers a different look; the flat-shaped Ronghua appears more vivid due to its light and thin structure.

The Ronghua pieces in this book include both plush and flat forms. Personally, I am more skilled at making flat-shaped Ronghua and enjoy capturing and preserving the beauty I encounter in life through this craft.

I hope this book helps you create Ronghua pieces of various styles and forms according to your preferences.
