Single-Petal Peony Hairpin - Fullflowers

How to Make Single-Petal Peony Hairpin - Handcraft Ronghua Tutorial

In Liu Yuxi's "Admiring the Peony," he writes: "In the courtyard, the peony shows off its charm, but the lotus on the pond lacks passion. Only the peony truly captivates the city when it blooms." In Wang Guowei's "Poem on the Imperial Peony," he says: "From the exotic lands of the West comes their fashion, while cherry blossoms from the East boast national fragrance. Having seen the entire spring world, the peony remains the king of flowers." These verses capture the unique charm of the peony. This case uses the "single-petal peony" as the creative element to design and produce a hairpin.

A. Preparing the Velvet Strips

1

1. Prepare two sets of petal velvet strips, one long and one short. The shorter set is half light-colored and half dark-colored, while the longer set has more light color and less dark color. Then prepare a set of leaf velvet strips, where a small portion of the silk thread is gradient-dyed, giving the velvet strips different colors at various positions.

2

2. Tie brass wire to the velvet strips and cut them. The flower velvet strips should be 3.5-4mm wide, and the leaf velvet strips should be about 3mm wide.

B. Trimming and Shaping

3

3. Trim the petal and leaf velvet strips to different lengths and cut off any excess brass wire.

C. Combining the Velvet Strips

4

4. Take the trimmed petal velvet strips of varying lengths (12 in total) and arrange them according to the shape of the petals. Bind the strips together with silk thread.

5

5. Use tweezers to shape the velvet strips into curves. Adjust the shape of each strip with tweezers and align the strips according to the petal's splitting effect (four strips per group). Fix the central petal segments with white glue.

6

6. Continue to adjust the shape of the side petal segments. Pay attention to the gaps by adjusting the top and bottom of the velvet strips to align them. Once the strips are adjusted, fix them with white glue.

7

7. Combine the leaf velvet strips of varying lengths to form leaf shapes and bind them together with silk thread. Use tweezers to adjust the shape of the leaves and then fix them with white glue.

8

8. Single-petal peony leaves are larger, so you can combine three small leaves to form a large leaf. Bind the three small leaves together with silk thread, then use tweezers to adjust their overall shape to make the leaves look more natural.

D. Assembling the Flower

9

9. Prepare eight peony petals, two leaves, and two types of plaster stamens.

10

10. Combine the two leaves and lengthen the stem. When the brass wire of the leaf (or petal) stem is not long enough, you can wrap a small amount of brass wire to extend the stem, which also enhances the aesthetics.

11

11. Assemble the flower. Here, two types of plaster stamens are used to make the flower appear fuller. After tying the plaster stamens, fix the petals in order of size. Once the petals are fixed, adjust their shape with tweezers.

12

12. Add the leaves to the assembled flower and finish fixing them.

13

13. Choose a main accessory and bind the flower branch to it. Secure it with silk thread and apply a little white glue to reinforce it. The creation is complete.

14. This Is the finished Single-Petal Peony Hairpin.
