Practical Techniques—How to Make Naturally Curved Leaves - Handcraft Ronghua Tutorial

Below are some practical techniques I've summarized for making Ronghua. You can use them as a reference.

How to Make Naturally Curved Leaves

1. Prepare the Tools and Materials: You'll need a flower iron (with the tip shown in the image above), tweezers, a sponge pad, a silicone pad, and a leaf that has been trimmed and bent into a curve using a flat iron. The curvature of the leaf can be adjusted as needed.

2. Soften the Leaf: Soak the leaf in hairspray to make it soft.

3. Shape the Leaf: Use tweezers to hold the central line of the leaf. Then, gently bend the copper wire in the leaf with your fingers to create the desired curvature. Insert the leaf into the sponge pad to let it dry naturally. Be careful to hold the brass wire with the tweezers and bend the wire with your fingers. Only one finger is needed to bend the leaf; avoid touching other parts of the leaf.

4. Dry and Define the Leaf: Once the leaf is completely dry, place it on a sponge pad with a silicone pad on top and use the flower iron to iron the central line of the leaf to make it more defined. Be cautious not to press too hard as the leaf already has a curve.
5. Smooth the Leaf: Use the flower iron to smooth out any uneven areas on both sides of the leaf. The effect of ironing should not be overly flat but should retain a natural, realistic appearance.

6. Trim the Leaf: Use scissors to trim any uneven edges of the leaf. Now, you have a naturally curved leaf.
