4.2.1 Basic Flower Shapes and Assembly

Folded Velvet Five-Petal Flower

Using yellow plum blossom as an example. Changing the color makes it suitable for red plum blossom, jasmine, peach blossom, etc. This section will connect with the previously made half-tapered leaves to create a complete flower shape.

Production Steps

01. The velvet strips used here are made using the basic velvet strip production method from Chapter 3. Trim them into the shape shown in the diagram. Be careful not to trim the ends too thin, creating an excessive difference in thickness between the ends and the middle. Otherwise, the curvature will be too drastic, and the strip may split in the middle when folded.

02. Fold the velvet strip in half and twist the brass wires at the base together to form one petal.

03. Ensure the top of the petal is not frayed, has no gaps, and is neat.

04. Combine the petals with the flower stamen, five petals form one group/flower.

05. After assembly, you can use tweezers to gently bend the petals upward to adjust the shape. Make one large flower and one flower bud.

06. Take out the half-tapered leaves prepared earlier and combine them with the flowers.

07. Complete the two parts sequentially.

08. Combine the two parts into one. Keep the binding thread as neat and smooth as possible.

09. Assemble it with a small hairpin. The basic five-petal flower is complete.

10. By changing the color of the velvet strips, it can be made into a red plum blossom.
