Basic Flower Pattern - Lily

The lily flower pattern is slightly more difficult than the five-petal flower mentioned earlier. The difference lies in the petal shaping of the lily, which requires pinching each petal in half. When pinching, be mindful of the position of the scissors and fingers. With practice, you can create satisfactory petals.

Materials and Tools: Velvet strips, Silk threads, Stamens, Ruler, Scissors, Tweezers, Lighter

Steps:

1                                                  2

1. Prepare five 5.8 cm long dual-gradient blue velvet strips.

2. Pinch each strip in half.

3                                                  4

3. While pinching, be cautious about the position of the scissors and fingers; the scissors should form a 35-degree angle with the velvet strip.
4. Each flower requires five velvet strips. After pinching, the strips should look like the ones shown in the picture.

 5

5. Use tweezers to adjust the velvet strips to make them symmetrical. Then fold them in half and twist the ends of the brass wire together to form a petal shape.

6                                                       7

6. Arrange all five petals in order.
7. Take light blue silk thread and 4-5 yellow-headed stamens. Fold the stamens in half, press one end of the silk thread with your left thumb, and use your right thumb and index finger to wrap the thread tightly around the base of the stamens.

8                                                       9

8. Perform the winding steps in the flower-making process, wrapping the silk thread twice around each petal as you add them until all five petals are secured.
9. Use tweezers to adjust the curvature of the petals, making the tops slightly curved.

10

10. Tie a knot, cut the silk thread, and finish. You can make two more flowers in the same way.
