The *Erya* states: "The lotus, its stem is 'Jia,' its leaf is 'Xia'..."(《尔雅》曰：“荷芙蕖，其茎茄，其叶蕸……”荷叶，在中国古代被称为“蕸”) The lotus leaf was known as "Xia" in ancient China. This case cleverly utilizes the interwoven, layered texture of velvet pieces to meticulously recreate the beauty of the lotus leaf's veins. It skillfully incorporates metal and jade carving elements, adding a touch of luxury and elegance to the work, greatly enriching its visual appeal.
Production Steps
01 The lotus leaf uses two color schemes. Be sure to blend the colors between green and brown. Total thread usage: 6 thread groups. Velvet row width: 2.8cm. Brass wire spacing: 1~1.2cm.
02 Make 12 green velvet strips and 20 green-brown velvet strips. After making them, slightly trim the lower ends of the velvet strips and flatten them.
03 Set the shape.
04 Apply white glue to the edge of a green flower piece and adhere it to another flower piece. After adhesion, pass it through a pressing plate to make the bond more secure.
05 Repeat step 04 to adhere the pieces into a fan shape. Pass each adhered flower piece through the pressing plate.
06 Incorporate the green-brown flower pieces, adhering everything together into a circular shape.
07 Use the pressing plate to create a curved arc on the lotus leaf and trim the edges.
08 Gently scorch the edges and surface of the lotus leaf with a lighter to create a withered effect. Then, use a lit incense stick to burn a small "wormhole."
09 One lotus leaf is complete.
10 Using the same method with green-brown velvet strips, make another lotus leaf.
11 Use the pressing plate to curl the lotus leaf inward, creating a concave arc.
12 Singe the edges with a lighter. The other lotus leaf is complete.
13 Reference for the shapes of the two lotus leaves.
14 Secure the lotus root node accessory with red binding wire.
15 Wrap the small metal lotus hairpin accessory with thread, and secure a piece of 0.3mm red binding wire to its front end.

16 Assemble all accessories as shown in the diagram. If the stem length is insufficient, reinforce it promptly with 0.5mm stainless steel wire.
17 Shape the 0.3mm red binding wire, allowing it to naturally wrap around the previous lotus leaf.
18 Place a U-shaped hairpin at the fixation point. The direction of the hairpin should be perpendicular to the orientation of the floral arrangement.
19 After wrapping and securing the floral arrangement, you can fold a piece of 0.3mm brass wire in half at the fixation point and bind it. After binding, string several 2mm pearls onto it sequentially, wind the pearls into a coil and secure them. Finally, wrap the brass wire with thread, bind it, and finish off the end.
20 The Lotus Leaf Hairpin is now complete.
