2.10 Chanhua Technique for Connecting Petals

The technique for connecting petals helps make the flower look more natural and prevents the stem from becoming too thick with copper wire. This method works well for making flowers and leaves.

1. Arrange the petal templates in the order you want. Prepare a longer piece of copper wire and silk thread.

2. Long wire can be hard to hold. You can curl up both ends of the wire. Leave a suitable length of wire, then add the first template and start wrapping.

3. Wrap the first petal using the basic petal technique. After finishing, wrap the thread around the base of the petal once to secure it.

4. Following your order, add the second petal template to the same copper wire. Wrap the whole petal using the same basic technique.

5. After finishing the second petal, wrap the thread around its base once to secure it. Then, add the remaining templates one by one and wrap all the petals.

6. Once all petals are wrapped, bring the two ends of the copper wire together. Wrap them with thread to secure, then finish off as usual.

7. Your connected petals are now complete.
