Three-Dimensional Petal Wrapping Diagram

Curved Three-Dimensional Petal

1. Prepare a piece of 0.4mm diameter copper wire, a curved three-dimensional petal cardstock template, and single-strand thread (due to the narrow middle section of three-dimensional petals, using single-strand silk thread will result in a smoother, more aesthetically pleasing petal).

2. Place the copper wire against the back of one pointed end of the cardstock and begin wrapping with silk thread.

3. Following the shape of the cardstock, wrap at a slight angle when approaching the middle section. Slightly overlap the thread on the inner side of the cardstock while wrapping flat on the outer side.

4. When reaching the middle section, wrap the thread vertically, with inner-side wraps overlapping at the same position.

5. Continue following the cardstock shape until the entire petal is wrapped.

6. Pinch the petal and slowly bend both pointed ends together. Use the copper wire on the back of the petal for support to secure the curved shape. Wrap the remaining thread around the copper wire to finish. The curved three-dimensional petal is now complete.

Double-Petal Three-Dimensional Flower

1. Prepare a piece of 0.4mm diameter copper wire, a double-petal three-dimensional cardstock template, and silk threads.

2. After wrapping one of the petals completely with silk thread, continue wrapping about 3mm along the copper wire.

3. Add the other piece of cardstock and begin wrapping, paying attention to the positioning and orientation of both ends of the cardstock.

4. Wrap the second petal completely with thread.

5. Hold the remaining thread without letting go. Using the copper wire on the back of the petals for support, gently curve the petals with your fingertips to bring them together.
