4.2 How to Make a Chanhua Hair Crown - Qiongyu

1. Use the organza petal technique to make 7 long petals and 7 short petals. Dye the petals to create a gradient color.

2. Gently hold the middle part of each petal with your fingers and bend it to create a curved shape.

3. Bend the copper wire on the right side of the petal. First, wrap some thread around the left wire, then bring the two wires together and continue wrapping them with silk thread to secure.

4. Take a round ring base. Wrap a small section of it with thread.

5. Add one long petal. Place its copper wire against the base and continue wrapping for about 2 cm to secure it.

6. Add a short petal on the outside of the long petal, slightly overlapping them. Use thread to wrap and secure it.

7. Repeat the previous steps. Continue adding long and short petals one by one. Remember: the long petals should always be on the inside, and the short petals on the outside.

8. After all petals are assembled, use the invisible finishing technique to tie off the thread on the inside of the crown.

9. Prepare several 5-6mm pearls for the bottom decoration.

10. Use 0.4mm tarnish-resistant copper wire to string the pearls. Make the pearl string long enough to go around the base of the crown.

11. Wrap one end of the copper wire around a bent part of the base a few times, then twist it tight to secure.

12. Place the pearl string against the bottom of the crown and wrap it around to secure. For extra strength, you can prepare additional copper wire and tie the pearl string to the base in 2 or 3 places.

13. After the pearl string goes all the way around, wrap the end of the wire around the base a few times to secure it. Then cut off any extra wire.

14. Glue some dome-shaped pearls onto the crown for decoration. Your Qiongyu Chanhua crown is now complete.
